I’m still kickin’…
Hello everyone! I hope everyone has been having a great week! I just wanted to update and say that I’m alive. Me, Jose, and the girls are doing great. There is still some horrible, terrible in-law drama going on (involving Rigo, Lupe, and my suegra) but I’m not going to let that bother me. If my suegra wants to talk to me, she is more than welcome to. If not, too bad. I’m done kissing her butt.
I have a head ache right now… I might lay down. But I will update later this afternoon, and I have been reading everyone’s blogs and I loved all your comments on my last entry!! You’re the best.
Bye!

Drama…
You guys, I seriously need a hug right now.
This weekend some bad stuff went down. I’m not ready to talk about it yet… Thinking about it makes me feel like it was some kind of movie or something. And I had nightmares last night that weren’t as bad as the reality.
We’re no longer talking to my suegra. Rigo better watch Lupe’s back, because she better hope to GOD she doesn’t find herself alone with me.
That’s all I have to say right now…
I love you all. I won’t leave you hanging for ever… I just need to really think things through before I do something stupid. Bye!

Exciting…
I was checking my blog stats today (yes, I am still obsessed with that!) and I was shocked when I read that I have had over 1000 hits today! I’ve been Buzzed on Yahoo! Buzz regarding the whole Chupacabra thing.
I just re-checked my stats, and we’re almost at 2000!
That’s the excitement for the day, I guess.
At work, they had a “picnic” for us, but there was nothing picnic about it other than the menu. The food pretty much sucked. We had catered hamburgers, grilled chicken breasts, baked beans, potato salad, and chips. I had a hamburger and potato salad. Blech. The hamburger was floating in a pool of grease and as bland as they come. The potato salad tasted like one big bite of onion.
It WAS free, though, and I am full, so I can’t complain TOO much.
Dessert is still to come.
It’s FRIDAY PEOPLE!!!!!! WHOO-HOO!!!
And Lisa, where the heck are you??? My other girls have shown up, but you’re still missing. I hope everything is okay!

No news is good news.
Yesterday, while we were eating dinner at my suegra’s, Jose continued voicing his concern over the whole job issue, saying how he was going to start looking for a job NOW instead of waiting until the day they fire him, and how he knew this was coming, and how it wasn’t going to do any good to worry… blah blah blah.
Rigo told him to shut it. He said he was sick of hearing about it. Silently, I agreed, but I kept my mouth shut.
“Rigo, por que te enojes?” Jose asked him, looking shocked.
Rigo then asked his Mom for some tortillas, as he was going upstairs to eat in peace. He said he didn’t want to argue.
“Rigo, calmate bro.” Jose told him, “Why are you getting all worked up??”
And, out of no where, Rigo slammed his plate down on the table and told Jose, “Callete la boca guey por que te voy a meter un putazo!!” (Loosely translates to… “Shut your mouth fucker or I’m going to punch you!”)
I couldn’t even believe it. This guy was 100% to beat the shit out of Jose. Jose just sat there, repeating, “Y porque me vas a meter un putazo?! Y por que?!
My suegra got in the middle, and sent Rigo upstairs.
Everyone was just kind of in shock! LoL, I mean, I know first hand how big of a drama queen Rigo is, but this was out of the blue! Jose wasn’t being the least bit mean to him!
Jeez…
And I thought Jose was crabby!

Jose’s Job.
Jose is currently employed at a mid-size construction company. They do horizontal drilling, dealing mostly with fiber optic cables. He has worked at this company since 1999, give or take about a year for the time he spent an Mexico and the couple of months he worked with a different company.
He’s a supervisor, in charge of the 4-5 other guys on his crew. And he gets paid GOOD money. My Mom would shit herself if she knew how much money he actually makes (and, likewise, how much we spend!). He’s a salaried employee, so its really nice not to have to worry about missing hours when it rains or snows, or when something comes up and he needs to take a day off.
He’s stressin’ big time about job security right now, though. And I mean, BIG TIME. He keeps talking about people getting laid off or people getting fired. I’ve asked him if he’s actually heard from someone in the main office about the possible layoffs, or if this is just gossip heard from his co-workers. I don’t get a straight answer.
Today, they announced that instead of 5 seperate trucks making the commute to Lincoln from Omaha, they instead are going to send everyone in one huge van. He’s taking this as a terrible sign. I tried to reassure him. Yes, it looks bad. BUT, imagine how much diesel fuel these FOUR trucks are using to make the 40 mile (each way!) commute every single day?? Imagine how much $$$ they can save by condensing the four vehicles down to ONE! I told him it seems to me to be just a very smart financial move on the company’s part.
He’s still worried. He thinks lay-offs will start tomorrow…
I refuse to stress over this. I would worry myself bald if I let this get to me. I’m just going to have faith, and hope and pray that if they DO lay him off, that they’d advise us with some time.
That’s the only news from the Martinez household. WHERE IS EVERYONE?!

Pablo Montero arrested…
I found this incredibly amusing. I have no idea why… Anyway, I decided to share it with my fellow bloggin’ buddies.
Pablo Montero (Oscar Daniel Hernandez), Mexican singer and actor (he currently stars in the novela Fuego En La Sangre), was arrested Monday in Miama, Florida. He was pulled over after running a red light and making an illegal turn. The cops then found him to be in possession of cocaine.
He’ll be going into rehab, so charges have been dropped.
Here’s his mug shot:
And here’s a link to the article:

Chupacabra…
On August 8th, 2008 two police officers in Cuero, TX managed to capture video footage of the ever elusive Chupacabra. What exactly is the Chupacabra, you might ask? Great question!
It translates literally to Goat Sucker (chupar = suck and cabra = goat in Spanish). The Chupacabra is an unknown animal that seems to inhabit Puerto Rico, Mexico, and (more recently) the United States of America. It was first seen in Puerto Rico in the early 90s, but sightings since have been reported as far north as Maine and as far to the south as Chile.
On Wikipedia.com, The Chupacabra is described as such: “It is supposedly a heavy creature, the size of a small bear, with a row of spines reaching from the neck to the base of the tail.”
Here is a drawing of the Chupacabra.
And here is a photograph of the Chupacabra that a woman in Texas found and froze, so she would have proof such a creature exsists.
Anyway, the Chupacabra feeds off live stock. It drains all of the animal’s blood and sometimes internal organs through one or two small holes. Most scientists think of the Chupacabras as mere urban legend though.
I asked Jose about this creature, and (once he stopped laughing) confirmed everything I had read on the internet so far, emphasizing the whole urban legend thing.
What do you think?? Do you believe in the Chupacabra?
Almost forgot to add… I think the animal in the video looks like a stray dog!!
Here’s some links for you if you would like to further your Chupacabra knowledge.
Bye!

Jose thinks…
I am not writing this entry to try to make Jose look stupid. Stupidity is not his problem, lack of a formal education is. When it comes to common sense, he could run laps around my book smarts.
I think these little “beliefs” of his are cute and worth mentioning.
*Once, he decided he was going to be the first astronaut to reach the sun. I told him that was in no way even close to being possible. It was way too far and he would be burnt to a crisp long before arriving. Besides, I explained, the sun is just a big ball of burning gasses. He then accused me of reading too much science fiction and of not having enough faith in him.
*I was looking up stuff on Google Earth last night. When you start, you’re looking at a globe. He glanced at the computer and scoffs, “What is that?! Why do they have the world all round and stuff?” He totally thought I was teasing him when I told him the world is, in fact, ROUND!
*He thinks tad poles swim up your butt and lay eggs in your stomach. He won’t swim in lakes or rivers because of that fear. Once, there was a baby catfish in the sand and Jose about had a heart attack thinking it was the biggest damned tadpole he had ever seen!!
*He went bald because he thinks too much. Uh-huh. Suuure. He probably went bald from worrying about all those tadpoles!
*His belly button possesses the ability to breathe oxygen for him. He thinks he can close his mouth and cover his nose and he’d still live because the air seeping in through his belly button.
LoL, okay… I have more but I have to stop now. This is making him look really dumb!!
I’m sure you guys have some to share, though!!!

It’s hot…
Ugh… we left the air off all day in the apartment and I am COOKIN’ right now. Sheesh.
Yesterday, I managed to talk Jose into driving us to the Cass County Fair, right outside of Weeping Water, NE. Here are some pictures:
It was a very, very nice afternoon. Not too hot at all! The girls had a blast looking at everything, riding the rides, and playing the games. Septemberfest (the Omaha fair) should be going on within the next couple of weeks! That will be pretty fun, too!
We didn’t go out Saturday night. We had went to the casino to celebrate with my friend who got married on Thursday, but the security guard wouldn’t let me in. Apparently, its new policy that you have to have two forms of ID to get in the casino if you’re under 25. WTF?!
Today, we spent the afternoon downtown. I am soooooo disappointed that my camera was here at home. There were so many awesome photo opportunities!! We first walked down to the Heartland of America Park, and took a boat ride around the lake. The girls LOVED it! Here’s a picture I took last summer of the fountain in the middle of the lake.
Very nice, huh? (I think you can make any of the pictures bigger by clicking on them, I’m fooling around with WordPress’s photo uploading tool)
After the park, we walked to the big slides in the middle of thw Old Market. Olivia was having a BLAST with me! We went down the slides about 10 times. Isabel tried it once (by herself, she didn’t want me to go with her) and decided they went waaaay too fast. Sorry for the picture overload, but here’s a picture of the slides. (Picture from http://www.city-data.com)
After the slides, we went for ice cream at Maggie Moo’s, and then started our walk back. We walked past the carriage rides, and decided before it gets too cold out, we’re going to take the girls on a carriage ride. I think they’d love it! And it’s only $20!! Not bad at all!
On the walk back to the car, we came through the Con Agra area. Oh, my God, that place is so beautiful!! I wanted to take pictures of everything!!!!!!!!
Jose could tell I was disappointed, so he promised to take me back soon.
I’m excited…
I will update more tomorrow at work!! Love y’all!! You must be having more excitement in your lives, ’cause no one has updated all weekend!!!

I wish it were 5pm.
I know you bloggin’ buddies of mine are all pretty talented – do any of you possess the ability to make time go by faster? If you can, I’d really appreciate it if you could make it be around 5pm. 5:30 would be even better, because by them I am out of the traffic by then.
(sigh)
A girl can hope, can’t she?
Once again, not too much new in the Martinez household. During the week, we follow the same get up, go to work, go to my suegra’s, eat, go home, go to sleep routine EVERY SINGLE DAY. We like to mix it up sometimes and make a stop at the gas station in between steps “eat” and “go home”.
You know… to keep things exciting.
Here on the work front, the phone bills are just arriving to our customers. Call after call after call of people complaining about how high their bill is. I’ve had more people complain about $.15 and $.20 charges than I’d like to remember. I want to tell these people to put on their big kid panties and get the heck over it.
Seriously. WTH?
Anyways…
See ‘ya later!!
