Caylee Anthony – Missing Girl
Have any of you been following this crazy story regarding two year old Caylee Anthony from Florida? She was missing for over 5 WEEKS before anyone reported her disappearance to police!
She was last seen on June 9th! Right now, her mother is being held in jail on a $500,000 bond, on child neglect and other charges. The bond is so high because the judge fears she may flee once released. The nutcase Grandmother defends the mom, saying she is forgiven for not reporting the daughter’s disappearance and that they need to release her from jail so that she can help them find the girl.
Grandma and Mom are covering something up. Big time. I can’t even believe this story… it makes my heart wrench for this baby girl. WTF kind of idiot doesn’t report a missing child until a MONTH after the fact? Unless, of course, she is covering up something pretty major. And this blog said it best -
“I have a 21 year old daughter and I’m here to tell you that I would love her regardless of what she did, but I would have beat the information about my grandchild out of her. I am afraid this little girl is dead, I pray not, but I fear it’s true.”
I mean… this case just gets even more crazy and more upsetting as days go by. Two different dogs from two different counties both hit on the scent of human decomposition in the back yard of the mom’s residence AND in the trunk of the car. Investigators ALSO found hair in the truck of the car matching the color and leg nth of that of Caylee’s. Of course, Grandma has a wonderful explanation for the smell in the car.
Pizza.
She said there was a bag with pizza in the trunk of the car that has sat there in the heat for 15 days.
Suuure. Keep on trying to cover up for your daughter. You’re looking quite brilliant in the meantime.
The latest update I’ve found was that someone called in a tip saying that they seen Caylee at the Atlanta airport. Supposedly, they asked her her name and she gave them the full name, mispronouncing it just like Caylee does.
I don’t know… I’m trying to remain positive and I hope to God that they find this girl alive and well, but I’m really skeptical with that whole tip thing… If she’s with someone (who obviously doesn’t want her whereabouts known) why would they let a complete stranger come up and start talking to her?? You know what I mean?
Anyways…
This story has been on my mind since I found about. I had to get this all off my chest. So… another prayer request for this little girl. If anyone does have any information regarding the whereabouts of Caylee, here is a tip number:
1.888.848.8750
And, here’s a picture of the girl as well:

Hump day is almost over!
This morning was one of the slowest mornings EVER! No joke! I am happy to report that this afternoon is going quite faster, though!
This weekend, El Original Banda El Limon (not to be confused with the much better La Arrolladora Banda El Limon) will be here in Omaha at the Casa Del Sol. I’ve heard rumors that girls can pick up free tickets at certain locations around town. I informed Diana (my BFF) of this and she’s on the hunt. ‘Cuz if I get free tickets, Jose HAS to take me!
Our mutual friend is getting married next month. I’m happy for her. Not thrilled with her choice of viejo, but I’m not the one marrying him! I’ll just keep my opinions to myself and my blog.
Anyone here use Redbox? The DVD vending machine? Around here, the HyVees have done away with movie rental departments, and have put up these RedBox machine’s instead. Movies are $1 an evening. After 25 days, if you haven’t returned the movie, its now yours. I was very impressed with the selection!! Lots of Dora and Diego, which is uber important for the Chavelas!!
Hasta luego…

Some sad news.
On Monday, my suegra had her follow up appointment regarding the C/T scan and the ultrasound.
They found a mass on her right ovary. It might be cancer; it might not. They are scheduling surgery to remove the ovary. If it is found to be cancer, they’ll remove all of her reproductive organs at that time. If not, they’ll sew her up and she’ll be released that same afternoon.
This is pretty scary stuff. It makes me sad to think about it. It makes me even sadder to think about Jose thinking about it. Did that make sense…?
So…if you could spare some positive thoughts and send some prayers our way, that’d be awesome! Thanks!

Weekend
Oh my gosh, after being as broke as Humpty Dumpty the last two weekends, it was so nice to actually be able to go out and spend a little cash!!
On Saturday, we took my suegra to the mall. I was very surprised that Jose ended up going, since the mall involves lots of walking and spending money, two of the things he hates most.
We started our journey at JCPenny, where I was very disappointed in the lack of good sales. I’ve been spoiled with the recent 75% all clearance, so the 65% off regular prices just wasn’t cutting it. I bought Livie an outfit and Isabel some undies. Next, the Childrens Place. My favorite store EVER. That’s where all the good sales were!! They’re having the 50% the lowest price sale, which makes for some grea prices! I got Isabel two outfits and Karina’s daughter and outfit for $20!
My suegra bought some stuff at Bath & Body Works, we ate some lunch at the Food Court, and then we headed home.
Yesterday, we went to the greyhound races over at Horseshoe casino. Talk about excitement!
It was a pretty profitable outing, though! Jose hit a trifecta (3 dogs that placed, in order) for $449.50!! Not bad on a $2 bet. We went to Golden Corral (Yummy!!) with his mom and the girls to celebrate.
LoL, now we can work on getting plates on the car!!!
How did everyone else’s weekend go?? Good I hope!!

Reporting… Liz
During the very depressing time I spent without internet access, I watched lots and lots of news.
Lots of news. Trust me.
There was local news and the Today Show from 6am-10am. More local news from 11:30 to 12:30. News again 5pm-7pm.
I’ve rambled off so many facts and news stories I’ve heard the last couple of days that you’d think I was part newspaper. Jose thinks I’ve been struck by temporary brilliance.
Nope… you just tend to retain things when you listen to them repeated a gazillion times.
Did you know a Panda bear eats up to 85 pounds of bamboo a day and that there are only 1600 of these animals left in the wild?
Ping pong is the national sport in China.
A cop was fired from Daytona Beach police force after demanding free coffee.
Do you want more?? Like the little girl that found the $9000 wedding ring? Or the doggy that was reunited with their owners after 5 years?
(sigh) I’m such a big dork that it is not even funny.
It’s all good, though.
The job is going well. I’m picking up more and more information with every call. That’s good, because I frickin’ hate being new and asking a zillion questions!
I went with my fellow trainee to CiCis pizza buffet. Yummy!! I’m stuffed and oh so lazy now.
Peace.

I’m baaack.
Oh my God, I’ve missed blogging so much.
This passed week has been hell on me. Honest to God, I’ve been suffering from withdrawl symptoms because of the lack of internet at home.
But, I got some awesome news. First of all, there is internet here at work! Heck yeah!! Second of all, tonight, I will be going down to the UPS hub and picking up my DSL modem. We’ve made the switch to DSL to see if it might just be a little cheaper. And because Jose now owes the cable company a ginormous bill on which he set up payment arrangements.
The job is… well, a job. It’s just like any other customer service job. The workplace environment is amazing, though. Its a very small company that is sooo relaxed. The calls come in at a slow but steady pace. The dress code is no pajamas and no shorts. No corporate policies. You do as you want as long as the customer is happy and taken care of in the mean time.
Niiiice.

Quick update…
Well, darn, the cable has been disconnected again!
That’s why I haven’t been on in a couple of days. I’m at my suegra’s house right now, on Ana’s computer.
We’ve got really broke, really fast this week! LoL, I don’t know what the deal is. I guess I *did* spend kind of a lot of money this weekend… (sigh)
I’m supposed to start work on Monday. I went to the interview at the agency, right away he showed me two potential jobs, and then on Tuesday I went to an interview at a small company for a customer service position. He thinks they want me… I hope! Because, obviously, a job would be a good thing about now!!
I’m going.
Its really, really hot over here. I think I’m going to check out some DSL internet prices and head home. I love you guys!!

My little man…
Before I met Jose, I had this mental image of Mexican guys being short, dark, and wearing super tight blue jeans. Its kind of funny that that is exactly what Jose looked like when I met him! We’ve done away with the tight blue jeans since them days. And I’ve also done away with that sterotypical image of Mexican dudes. Jose is actually the one of a few really short Mexicans I know. All of his cousins are over six feet tall. His brothers are all at least as tall as I am (5′7”), if not a little taller. Most Mexicans mistake Jose for someone from Guatemala or El Salvador, due to his littleness and very dark skin.
LoL, to sum up a paragraph that is starting to get rather long, Mexican people come in all shapes and sizes just like white people!
Anyways…
When we met, he went by the nickname “chaparro” (shorty). Me, the guera with no understanding of Spanish whatsoever, just assumed that it was his name. I think for the first six months or so I called him “Chap-a-row” (my Guera-ized pronunciation).
Here are some pics of my wonderful (but sooo annoying) husband:

I was 17 there (him 26) and it was my high school homecoming. LoL, that pic was somewhat famous in my Spanish class! It spent many a Friday afternoon getting passed around and giggled at by myself and my classmates.
And here’s a shot from our church wedding ceremony. This was in March. (Me 23 and Jose now 32)

Memories…
Here’s another pic of us homecoming goers. You should recognize the girl on the opposite end of the table from us as Diana, my BFF.

Oh say can you see…
We did not make it to see Grupo Control on Thursday night.
I tried and I tried, but Jose would not budge. We came to some very nice compromises, though. We went to the bar right behind our apartment complex that night. I was pretty impressed. I had no idea they had a full menu nor did I know it was a huge as it is in there!! I had a couple of drinks (they’re not priced too bad, either!) and Jose had a BBQ cheeseburger. He said it was really good!
Yesterday morning, we drove to Rockport, Missouri (a little over an hour) so we could smuggle back some good old, illegal fireworks! That’s a HUGE compromise on his part, because he hates fireworks and thinks they are a big waste of money. We spent $60, while my suegra spent $80!! LoL, I couldn’t believe she spent so much on fireworks.
We spent the afternoon at my mom’s house. She had BBQ ribs, cheesey potatoes, and hot dogs. Jose made a little carne asada.
Around 8pm, we took off from there, and went over to my suegra’s house. She had caldo de camarron! Ewww… I am so not a sea food person. Jose enjoyed it, though! We started lighting off fireworks around 9pm (we being me, Rigo, and Omar) and by the time Jose brought us home (11ish) they still had tons of fireworks left! There were a fewerrors in judgement. Like when one of the huge rockets broke off the stick, and Jose thought he could tie it back on. When he lit it, it fell onto the street below and zoomed right at the neighbors house and exploded under their car!! Yikes!
Isabel was not having anything to do with the fireworks. She was inside, watching cartoons! Every so often she would stick her head out the front door to check to see if we were still lighting fireworks, and then SLAM would go the door.
Olivia was outside with us, but hiding under a table!
No one was injured, Thank God. My suegra’s boyfriend was burnt kind of bad by a sparkler (of all things!). LoL, I think next year the illegal fireworks can stay in Missouri. I was a nervous wreck all night watching Rigo light off the rockets!
When we left, the huge fireworks show at the baseball stadium had JUST started, so we got a pretty cool view of that the whole way home. I’ll post some pics a little later!
Bye!!!

Job Search and dance info…
I’m been begging and pleading with Jose to take me to see Control tomorrow. He’s almost ready to cave…
I *did* have to promise to be willing to cook at home all weekend with the exception of one meal. A big sacrifice on my part (
) but I think I can handle it!! I would so love to go to the dance tomorrow!!
Anyways…
I came across an Omaha staffing agency online last night and did all of the required application steps. This morning, a woman called me and set me up with an interview for tomorrow at 8:30. I just got done doing all of the assessments online that she sent me. Phew!! I’ve found out I suck at Excel, but I kick put at 10-key data entry and Alpha-Numeric data entry! My typing skills are a little rusty… I only hit 58 WPM. I was hoping it’d give me a try or two, but nope. Just one go.
We’ll see what she says tomorrow! Now I’m off to search for some decent clothing to wear tomorrow, to make myself look all professional and stuff.
Wish me luck… I told her I wanted a strictly clerical postion that involves NO SELLING.
Jose is very excited, by the way. If I get good news at the interview tomorrow, he’ll be all the more willing to take me to the dance!
