The cable has been disconnected…
Our life is on “pause” so to speak… The cable was disconnected this morning. Which means no Noggin for the girls and no internet for me. Damn… what the heck are we supposed to do all day?!
And what really stinks is that we don’t have the money until Friday to get it connected again. (sigh) Jose has decided that he only wants the basic channels (in our case 1-70) and the “tier” that includes Noggin and PBS Sprout.
I don’t give a fart about the cable… just as long as I have my internet, I’m fine!
So… we’re all over at Mom’s today. I figure I’ll go home around 3pm or so. I still have a ton of housework to do, and I really should get started on some laundry. It’ll be really easy to get housework done with no internet to distract me!!
Ooo… I talked to the general manager at work yesterday. They are taking us to Branson, Mo! Branson is 400 miles away from here, so that’s a super long car ride! 6 of us are going in a van. Its not very glamorous, but I’m still excited. 2 nights away from home! YAY! We’re either leaving on the 7th or leaving on the 10th. Yipee!!
I’m sure I’ll update again before I leave… bye!!

Listos Para el Baile…??
This weekend, the Horoscopos De Durango will be playing, along with La Sonora Dinamita. Now, I pretty much want to go to every single dance. But I really, really want to go to this one. I love both of these groups! There’s no way in hell Jose would pay the $35-$45 for each ticket. But maybe if I buy them…
We’ll see.
Or, I could wake up early and listen to Radio Lobo and try to win tickets! LoL, I might have to try that, because I don’t know if I want to shell out $100, either.
On a completely different note, our Stimulus Package should be arriving some time soon. I think ours is going to be a paper check, and will be among the first to be sent out on May 2nd. Money is always a good thing… We’re going to be responsible for once and pay off some debt. Thanks to me we have plenty of that.
I’ve decided to pay off all of the small cards (balances less than $300) first. JCPenny, Childrens Place, HSBC… Those are the crappy little cards I forget about each month and then get screwed by late payments and all that good stuff. We’re trying to get the rest of the cards paid off by the end of summer.
Talking about bills and debt depresses me…
Ooo… get this. Sunday night, Rigo (my brother-in-law with the married girlfriend) invited everyone in the entire family to a cookout at his girlfriend’s house. EVERYONE. We’re talking cousins, brothers, neices.
Yeah, everyone except for us.
That ticks me off. I’m nothing but nice to these people. Especially Rigo. I’ve done all his bitch work for the passed 5 years. Translating, paying bills, rides, etc. etc. And then he goes and does something stupid like this!?
Grrr…
Have a nice Tuesday! LoL, wish me luck on obtaining those tickets.

Darn, its Monday again…
So… I ended up working Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Each day I made over $80, so not too bad. The only day I actually worked 8 hours was yesterday. Things are looking up.
Anyway, yesterday this woman from Corporate Offices comes up to me and tells me she can see me going places with the company, and asked if I was willing to travel to take some classes. She said for the first one I’d probably be gone two days.
WTH? For a waitressing job?? I mean, I’m all up for it, just to get some free travel out of it. ‘Cause I’m a dork like that.
I don’t know though… My friend thinks they want to get me into management.
I don’t know what to think about that. We’ll see, I guess. We’ll see.
We had a very nice weekend, even if I did end up working most of it. Saturday night was my BFF’s neice’s birthday party. It was freezing cold and raining outside, and since we were in the garage it was pretty chilly, but it was still a very nice party.
Here are a couple of pictures. Isabel would NOT let the clowns paint her face. The thought of it terrified her. But look how close she’d get to watch them paint faces!! LoL, silly girl. (She’s the girl in the striped sweater)

Another shot of Izzy (or Chavela, as we call her
) hitting the pinata.

And her is Livie with her Papa. She wasn’t participating in any of the party activites.

Ugh… I have bills to pay. I have to go to the bank, go make the truck payment, go pay the cable bill, and come back home and make more payments via internet. Blah, blah, blah.
Love ya! Bye!

No work today…
So… as my luck would have it, on the rare day that I’m actually eager to work because I need the money, I got sent home because I wasn’t on the schedule.
The General Manager gave me a call and apologized. I guess the manager didn’t read her notes, because he was supposed to send one of the other waitresses home and keep me. Darn… I guess I’ll be drinking the $1.50 margaritas at Ladies’ Night tonight!!
Speaking of Ladies’ Night, I did get the blouse I wanted at Wal-Mart. I’m very excited. I love wearing red!!
Don’t I lead an exciting life?
So… I have some more in-law gossip. Because everyone loves gossip.
My cuñado (brother-in-law) is seeing a married woman who has three kids. This lady’s husband was deported, and is currently in Mexico awaiting an immigration hearing. Anyway, they started dating about two months ago. A week later, she moved in my suegra’s house (with her 3 kids, who were to sleep in the living room). She gets her tax money, and decides to make a trip to see her “babies’ daddy” (her words). Once in Mexico, she calls my cuñado and breaks up with him.
This guy, upon finding out that she has been living with (and miscarried a baby by) my cuñado (who he was very good friends with), breaks up with her.
So… girl comes back, moves back in. Cuñado has had enough, and kicks her out and tells her he never wants to see her or her kids again. This is Tuesday.
This morning, they’re signing the lease on the apartment they’re getting together. WTF?!
I can’t wait to see the shit hit the fan when her husband gets home from Mexico. And, these people were broke as hell when they were living in my suegra’s house. I wonder what the hell they’re going to do once they’re living on their own!?!
Enough gossip…
Have a nice day!!!

How We Met…
Stories are fun to tell, and I don’t really have too many friends to tell stories to, so I’m going to work them into my blog…
When I met Jose back in 2001, the only things I knew about Mexicans was that my aunt didn’t like them and that they spoke Spanish. Yeah, I know that’s pretty pathetic for a 16 year old, but its the truth. My best friend was Mexican, but I knew nothnig about her home life and at school she was as Americanized as the rest of us.
One evening, I decided to go over to Diana’s house after my shift at KFC. It was a Saturday night, and probably around 12am. As I pulled up to her house, I noticed a small, drunken Mexican staggering his way down the block. Common sense told me to wait until he was down the street to get out of my car, but I got tired of waiting and headed up her driveway.
Halfway to the door, I realized he was following me up the driveway. I started walking faster, eventually jogging to the door. I pounded frantically, hoping Diana would open up before he could get his hands on me.
To my surprise, when Diana opened the door, this guy walked right on in behind me. Turns out, he lived on their front porch!
To make a long story short, we started dating. Things were kind of hard at first, since he spoke no English and I spoke no Spanish. I started picking up Spanish crazy fast, though. Especially after his brother moved in with us, it seemed like I was around someone that spoke Spanish all the time.
After we had been dating for a while, he told me he was undocumented. I had never heard such a thing. I thought he was lying.
I wish…
Almost seven years later, Jose just finally became a legal US permanent resident last spring. It was a long, expensive, and hard battle. But we’ve made it this far… The next step is citizenship.

Ladies night…
Tomorrow is the second anniversary of Ladies’ Night at the local Mexican Nightclub. I’m very excited and can’t wait to go!
Unfortunately, I have no cash. Actually, I have a little over ten dollars, but with that I’m buying a blouse that I fell in love with at Wal-Mart. Once I purchase said blouse, then I’ll have no cash. So, I called work and asked if I could go in tomorrow for a few hours. I figure I need a good $20-$30 at least to buy my drinks. Let’s hope we’re some what busy tomorrow and I make some good cash!
I worked yesterday and it was a pretty good day. I went in at 10am, and was done by 2. I left $50, and that was after paying for my food. Not bad, not bad. Now that Ms. Sticky Fingers is done, I’m actually making decent money.
I know, I know. I’m pretty boring.
Oooo! But I did talk to Jose last night about when I could possibly go to Mexico. I’d love to go again in July/August! He said there’s a very good chance that I’ll be able to go! YAY! The girls will be so excited to see all their uncles and aunts and cousins again!!
=)

What a family…
So… today was mostly a gossip about the in-laws kind of day. Seriously, being almost related to these people is like my own little on-going soap opera.
My suegra was telling me about how yesterday, her so-called best friend admitted to sleeping with my married brother-in-law. The fact that this guy is cheating on his wife isn’t the big shocker here. What amazes me is that this woman (who is old enough to be his grandma) did what she did with him and then had the balls to talk about it.
Really now? WTF? She must have been pretty damned drunk to think it’d be cool to brag about sleeping with your friends’ son.

Addiction is a bad thing…
Jose is going to be freakin’ stoked when he finds out I have yet another internet addiction to add to the list. As if Myspace and Babycenter weren’t enough! I seriously never knew blogging could be so addicting!
This afternoon wasn’t very eventful. Oh, yeah! At the park I played a little trick on the girls. Its making me giggle just thinking about it. We always struggle when its time to go home. Always. We threaten to leave. We threaten that the Cucuy is going to come. We threaten to leave again. Usually, we only leave once both of us have grabbed a crying child and have shoved them into the car.
Today, same scenerio. They didn’t want to leave. So, I told them I was leaving. Naturally, they ignored me. Jose managed to sneak up right behind where they were playing in the sand. He was probably five feet away. I hopped into the truck. “Bye girls!” I then turned the truck on and pulled out of the parking place.
The next few seconds were chaos. The younger of the girls stood up, and started yelling for her Mama. The oldest, panic stricken, threw down the cups and sticks she was playing with and started sprinting towards me. Jose then popped out from behind the slide and surprised the heck out of them.
Okay, okay. I know that was really mean. I feel kind of bad writing about it.
But it was still funny.
And I promise we don’t do this to them often.

Back to waitressing…
I’ve really been hurting for some spending cash. So… I went back to working at the resteraunt. I know, I know. I hated it. It sucked. I swore up and down I was done with it and was never going back. A girl has needs, though, and Jose wasn’t giving me enough spending cash.
I’m glad I went back.
The morning was craptacular. Between 9am and 10am, I made $2. Two fucking dollars. So, like always, I started complaining to the general manager. You know what we discovered? The bus girl was stealing my tips! The manager got suspicious when I told her about my $2, because she knew that sounded wrong. She started watching people, and watched this bitch sticking money in her pockets.
Now, I’m not a violent person. Honestly, I’m not. But I wanted to punch her face in SO badly, I was shaking. I was shaking like it was 40 below zero. I couldn’t even think straight I was so angry.
She got fired. So, after she got canned, I started making decent money. Between 10am and 1pm, I made $60. Not too shabby. Who knows how much she walked off with, and how much she was stolen from me in the passed.
(sigh)
I told the general manager I’m willing to go back Saturdays and Sundays. Until I find another job, at least…
